GD Os Vidreiros attended the District Football Gala, organised by the Leiria Football Association, on Saturday, in an event celebrating the work carried out throughout the 2025/2026 season and the achievements of the club’s women’s football project.

The ceremony gave GDV plenty of reasons to be proud, from the achievements of its youth teams to the club’s first international call-ups.

GDV’s youth development recognised

In women’s football, GD Os Vidreiros finished second in the "Club of Excellence in Youth Development" category, recognising the work carried out by the club in developing and supporting its young players.

The season was also marked by significant sporting achievements. The U13 team won the Interdistrict Tournament in their age group, a feat also achieved by the U15s. The U17s, meanwhile, won the qualifying competition for the National Cup, securing GDV a place in a national competition.

From youth development to first international call-ups

Another highlight of the Gala was the recognition of the first international call-ups for Miriam Pimenta and Ana Gomes.

Both players have written an important chapter in the history of women’s football at GD Os Vidreiros, taking the club’s name to international level and becoming role models for the younger players who continue their development at GDV every day.

More than individual or team results, these distinctions reflect the growth of a project that remains firmly committed to youth development, helping players progress and creating opportunities for them to reach new levels.

Recognition shared by everyone

Behind every award and every achievement are countless hours of work and the contribution of many people.

GD Os Vidreiros would therefore like to extend a special thank you to its players for their commitment, hard work and dedication, and for the way they represent the club both on and off the pitch. They are the true driving force behind this journey.

The club also recognises the work of its coaching teams and everyone within the GDV structure for their daily commitment to the development and growth of the players, as well as the families whose constant presence, countless journeys and continued support help make this project possible.

GD Os Vidreiros would also like to thank the Leiria Football Association, the Municipality of Marinha Grande and the Portuguese Football Federation for their support and contribution to the development and promotion of women’s football.

From youth development to the club’s first international call-ups, the recognition received at the District Football Gala represents another milestone on the path GD Os Vidreiros is determined to continue building: developing players, creating opportunities and taking the name of the club and Marinha Grande ever further.
