The 2026/2027 season begins with a strengthened commitment to youth development, the growth of women’s football and raising the profile of Marinha Grande both within and beyond the region.

Grupo Desportivo “Os Vidreiros” is beginning another sporting season, renewing its commitment to providing its players with a development pathway focused on both sporting and personal growth.

The return to training begins on Monday, 24 August, with the Under-19 team at Marinha Grande Municipal Stadium. The remaining age groups will resume their activities on 31 August at Campo do Tojal in Picassinos.

From their first steps in football to competitive level, GDV supports the development of its players, promoting learning, teamwork, responsibility, resilience and respect.

More than eight decades of history

Founded in 1939, GD “Os Vidreiros” has been part of the sporting and community life of Marinha Grande for more than eight decades.

Throughout its history, the club has developed successive generations of players and represented the region in district, inter-district and national competitions. Its achievements include two Women’s Football National Cups, at Under-19 and senior level, as well as several titles and notable performances across its youth teams.

The work carried out by the club has also helped its players gain greater visibility and access opportunities in more demanding competitive environments, including international experiences.

The club is certified by the Portuguese Football Federation and has been awarded the Ethics Flag, recognitions that reflect GDV’s commitment to high-quality player development and the values of sport.

Developing players, preparing for the future

Player development remains one of GD “Os Vidreiros”’ main priorities. Rather than simply preparing teams to compete, the club seeks to create a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment in which every player can fulfil her potential and grow both on and off the pitch.

The pathway begins with discovering football, progresses through learning and the development of individual and team skills, and prepares players for the highest levels of competition.

In the medium term, GDV intends to re-establish a senior women’s team, ensuring that players developed at the club can continue their sporting journey and strengthening the presence of women’s football from Marinha Grande at national level.

A club built by its people

The GD “Os Vidreiros” project is built every day through the involvement of its players, coaching staff, families, directors, volunteers, members, supporters, businesses and regional institutions.

It is this community that enables the club to continue growing, creating opportunities and representing Marinha Grande across the country.

During the 2026/2027 season, we aim to build on the work already accomplished, introduce more young players to the game and continue providing our athletes with the best possible conditions to learn, develop and compete.
